Our baby Cope- So far

Our Baby Cope

Some people say they didn't have any symptoms, some say they knew straight away. I guess I was The straight away kind..

Alex and I had realized towards the end of 2013 that both of us and a baby hedgehog just wasn't cutting it anymore. We were ready for a real baby. So starting on the 1st of January, we left our family future up to fate.

While being really sick in Peru I was thinking/hoping it had happened already. Nope.

I remember being really impatient and wondering how long it would take (when you make the decision its like all you think about) and then heard it can take up to 6 months after using birth control for a year to fall pregnant. 6 MONTHS! I was sad. But still prepared to wait that long if thats what it took.

Then towards the start of March my body was going crazy. My boobs were killing me, I was unexplainably tired and I was packing on the pounds for no reason. I got excited, bought a pregnancy test- Negative.

I knew something was up so I went to the doctors thinking maybe it was like my thyroid or something. They also did a pregnancy test- Nothing.

My results and blood work came back normal and I was getting nervous because I honestly had no idea what was wrong with me.

After another couple weeks and still no period I decided to do another pregnancy test one night when Alex and I were just being lazy at home.

It was positive!

I ran out of the bathroom and told Alex. He didn't believe me at first, and told me not to get too excited just in case it was wrong. I couldn't help it- I was stoked.

The next day I went out and bought a different brand of tests to take again just to be sure.

Same thing :)

I called an OBGYN the next day and they told me I was about 5-6 weeks along going off my LMP and that they wanted to see me around 8-10 weeks. Those 3 weeks went by so slow!

I couldn't wait until then to tell my parents, so they found out a couple days after we did. We tried to take them both out to lunch to announce it in person but as soon as I called them they knew haha
We announced it to my family that night but were still trying to keep it as secret as we could just in case.

The next week we waited until the right moment to tell Alex's family. My sister-in-law knew straight away because of my awful unconscious habit of holding my belly that I had developed overnight. We told the rest of his family over dinner that night :)

The day of my appointment came and I was so glad when Alex said he wanted to come with me. I was pretty nervous and had no idea what to expect and thought Alex might want to avoid it because of all the girly talk that would go on. But I married a trooper :)

We got to hear the baby's heartbeat, 127 bpm. Then got our first ultrasound!

The baby was only measuring at 6.4 weeks instead of 9 weeks which put us at a due date of December 4th.
Its itty bitty but its there!!
Baby is the size of a blueberry.

The next month and a half after our ultrasound was a crazy one, but we just found an OBGYN here in Texas and got another Ultrasound!!

Our baby had grown so big! It was amazing to see it moving around and raising its arms out to touch the Ultrasound probe. Seriously, ultrasounds are the best and most wonderful invention in the world :)

It was about 17 weeks along when I started to feel the baby move. It felt exactly like someone poking me from the inside. I loved the feeling! As the weeks went on the movements started getting stronger and more frequent, it was a little wriggle worm and I was just so excited to actually have proof that there was something inside of me instead of just getting fat haha

When I was 20 weeks exactly we had our gender ultrasound scheduled! My mum was here visiting from Utah so she got to come too which made it even more special.
After probing around for a while the technician finally told us we were expecting a girl! A healthy strong growing baby girl. We are so lucky!!
We already have names picked out.. But for now I think we will keep that a little secret.

Look how big she is!

Alex can finally feel her kick on the outside now, its so much fun just laying there in bed at night feeling her kick around. Its so crazy that we are over half way to a baby now!

I've been super lucky in that I only had morning sickenss for a few weeks in my first trimester. Not so lucky in the fact that I've been bloated since day one though.

No cravings so far either.. Except the smell of eggs still makes me want to die. I hate eggs.

So thats all the big stuff so far.. I've been so bad at keeping track of every detail, just been so much going on these past few months but I'm going to try and do better!
