Our BabyMoon

Before Alex started his job as a teacher we wanted to take advantage of the chance to have one last trip away together ever before we have kids to worry about. And seeing as we only had a weekend and not much money to blow we decided to visit the State Captial Austin :)

It's about a four hour drive from our little Mckinney apartment so only a little road trip. But being pregnant we had to make like 20 stops on the way..

This is what it was like:
11.05am- Drink a bottle of water
11.20am- Yeah Im good
11.25am- Yeah still good
11.30am- My bladder is made of iron
11.35am- Yeah I can go a little longer..
11.37am- HOLY CRAP IM ABOUT TO PEE MY PANTS PULL OVER PULL OVER

Repeat.

Have you ever had to pee so bad that you would almost just risk wetting your pants just because holding it is THAT painful and uncomfortable? Yeah, then you havent been pregnant...

My little baby sure knows how to time her kicks to my bladder...

Anyway one of our stops that we made on our way south was to a place called Lone Star Bakery. Their donuts came highly recommended. And they did not disappoint.

We then headed to our hotel, dropped our stuff off and headed to the city.

Our first stop was to a food truck yard where we got Torchy's Taco's. Their queso dip was AMAZING!

Then we drove to South Congress and explored all the weird shops until it was time to see the bat bridge.
We went to a place called Big Top Candy Shop where they had every kind of lolly imaginable. They even had Cadbury! So I had to buy a curly wurly. I miss real chocolate :(

Alex bought Bertie Botts every flavor Beans.

His face was priceless haha

Other shops we went into were Lucy In Disguise (With Diamonds) which was a crazy costume shop that had everything you could think of..

Uncommon Objects which was kind of like an antique store

New Bohemia which had tonnes of vintage clothes
Seriously, they have so many crazy weird stores there..

We got a cupcake from another food truck called Hey Cupcake. It was so cute!

Once sunset came we headed to the bat bridge where millions of tiny bats come out and fly south of the city for food. All the photos we took were'nt very clear so I stole one from the internet

It lasted for about 45 minutes, they just kept coming! I have no idea how so many bats can fit underneath that bridge.

After that we had Thai Food for dinner and went back to the hotel for an early night.

Next morning we went to a really popular cafe called Cafe Java. We waited for half an hour just to get sat it was that busy.

After breakfast we went to Barton Springs for a swim. The water was FREEZING! It took me like 20 minutes just to get all the way in haha

We also went to the Capitol Building and explored a little

After all this we had lunch at Chic'fil'A and then decided we were too tired to explore any more and headed home.

Even though it was a short little trip it was fun to just get away and see a new place :)
